The clock has an 8 day movement with outside countwheel striking on a bell, on the hour and the half. Circa: 1870. Stamped on the movement with the makers name:- “Japy Freres & Cie, Medaille D’Honneur: 1855”.

Japy Freres et Cie were French clockmakers, originally set up in circa 1771 in Beaucourt by Frederic Japy. They closed in 1930.
