Pair Of Rimes, C1760 English Flintlock Turn-off Pistols Signed By John Rimes, London.

Price £2,200 $2,961 €2,519

Each pistol with three-stage cannon-form barrels in copper alloy, bearing London proof marks and the barrelsmith’s mark of John Rimes, a known gunmaker active in Wapping from the 1740s. The border-engraved breeches are engraved with martial trophies above the steel springs, while the rounded lockplates are engraved ”London” beneath. The tangs and cocks are finely engraved, and each pistol, engraved with a floral motif on the bow. Each pistol retains its original sliding trigger-guard safety catch, a feature typically reserved for higher-grade Queen Anne style pistols. The trigger guard slides forward to block the trigger, preventing discharge, and can be returned to the rear firing position—a desirable element for collectors. Mounted with rounded figured walnut butts, each with silver butt caps, engraved en suite (some wear consistent with age). The stocks have been repolished and both stocks show signs of old repairs, now stable. A well-presented and attractive pair.

British Flintlock Blunderbuss With Sprung Bayonet, Late 18th Century

Price £2,200 $2,961 €2,519

A rare and intriguing defensive firearm from the late Georgian period, featuring a sprung triangular bayonet mounted above the barrel with and ram rod below and vacant escutcheon. The 36.5 cm (approx. 14½?) brass barrel flares at the muzzle and tapers to a short octagonal breech section, with a sprung 28 cm triangular bayonet above the barrel. The bayonet is retained by a catch and releases forward when deployed — a characteristic feature of close-quarters blunderbusses intended for shipboard or carriage defence. The flintlock action incorporates a roller on the frizzen and remains complete, although unsigned, consistent with government inspection pieces and private contract manufacture of the late 18th century. The furniture comprises an engraved brass trigger guard with pineapple finial and brass butt plate. Walnut Stock with cross hatched grip, shows age-appropriate wear, rishrinkage cracks, and period restoration/repairs, particularly around the wrist and forend.

VICTORIAN British 1847 Officer’s Helmet – victorian Of The 5th (princess Charlotte Of Wales’s) Dragoon Guards, Circa1845–1855

Price £1,250 $1,683 €1,431

A fine and early example of a British Heavy Cavalry Officer’s “Albert Pattern” Helmet, dating from around 1845–1855 and belonging to the prestigious 6th (Princess Charlotte of Wales’s) Dragoon Guards. This impressive all-brass helmet displays beautifully crisp chased decoration throughout, with a bold brass finish and excellent definition to every leaf and scroll. The large frontal plate is mounted with the crowned “VR” (Victoria Regina) cypher within the Garter star, inscribed “P.C.W. DRAGOON GUARDS.” The plate is surrounded by rich oak-leaf and acanthus ornament in high relief, typical of superior officer’s quality. Above rises an ornate flame-shaped plume holder of chased brass leafwork, fitted with a red feather plume, completing the classic early-Victorian heavy-cavalry silhouette. The peak and rear neck guard both retain their bold, chased oak-leaf borders, and the brass link chin-chain is secured by rose-pattern bosses to either side. Inside, the helmet retains its original red Moroccan-leather sweatband with remains of the black oil cloth crown lining and drawstring tie with original red leather lining with makers label ”Cater 56 Pall Mall London”. All correct for this early period and rarely found intact today. The construction, with a riveted central seam and leaf-decorated crest base, confirms early manufacture prior to the widespread adoption of silver-plated versions after the Crimean War. This example presents extremely well, showing only honest age wear to the liner and minor surface marks to the exterior. The finish is bright and the detail crisp throughout, with no modern replacements or restorations evident. A superb and authentic early Victorian officer’s helmet from one of Britain’s most distinguished heavy cavalry regiments — seldom encountered complete and in such condition. Condition: Very good, retaining original interior, bright gilt finish, and replaced plume. Minor age wear and liner losses commensurate with age. “Minor loss to one leaf tip on the rear acanthus mount beneath the plume base (see photos); stable and not structurally significant.” approximatel 4cm mm. See photos.

Dimensions: Approx. 33 cm high including plume socket (41 cm with plume). 25cm deep. 20cm wide Weight 885 grams Date: Circa 1845–1855 Regiment: 6th (Princess Charlotte of Wales’s) Dragoon Guards Material: Brass with red leather interior.

Colt Model 1860 Army U.S. Martial Revolver, Serial No. 84685 Matching (c.1862), Almost Certainly Used In The American Civil War.

Price £2,200 $2,948 €2,527

An original and matching-number Colt Model 1860 Army .44 calibre percussion revolver, manufactured in Hartford, Connecticut during the American Civil War. The round 8-inch barrel is roll-marked “ADDRESS COL. SAM L COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA,” the frame bears “COLT’S PATENT,” and the rebated six-shot cylinder is stamped “COLT’S PATENT No 84685” with traces of the battle scene and patent legend “PAT. SEPT. 10th 1850.” Crucially, this example shows the faint remains of the U.S. Ordnance inspector’s grip cartouche on the left walnut grip, together with small inspector / sub-inspector letters (including a stamped ‘c’) on the brass grip frame. These marks indicate U.S. Army acceptance rather than purely civilian sale, confirming this is a true martial Colt Army revolver from the Civil War period. The revolver retains its original brass trigger guard and backstrap and all major components carry matching serial number 84685, including wedge and cylinder. Surfaces throughout show an untouched, even, dark patina with typical service wear. Mechanism complete & in working condition but not test-fired. Length approx. 14 in (35.5 cm). Calibre .44 percussion. A very honest U.S. military Colt Army revolver from the height of the American Civil War.

Price £1,450 $1,943 €1,665

A fine and original example of Colt’s iconic percussion revolver, the Model 1849 Pocket Revolver, manufactured in 1861 during the American Civil War period. Italian Military Flintlock Service Pistol, Signed “trulo” ” — Late 18th Century. brass Lock Plate.

Price £1,050 $1,407 €1,206

A robust Italian flintlock service-style pistol, 41cm overall with a 9” iron barrel of approximately 14 bore. The lock is clearly signed ”TRULO” with ”5” engraved on the butt. Further faint engraving and proof stamped marks to the barrel. Brass furniture throughout, including sideplate, trigger guard, ramrod pipes and butt cap, set to a full walnut stock of typical military form. The lock functions well on half- & full-cock with a crisp action. Barrel shows age-related pitting and staining but remains secure in the stock. Stock with period knocks and wear consistent with age and service use, no major repairs visible. Brass mounts with an attractive, untouched patina. This pistol represents the practical, provincial military production of Southern Italy (likely Brescia or Naples region) around 1780–1820. The numbered lock and signed plate reflect a workshop making pistols for service or export in the Napoleonic era. A good, honest example of an Italian service flintlock pistol, increasingly scarce in original condition. Overall length: 41cm Barrel: 9” Bore: approx. 14 bore.
